How to Connect Matrix Software to the Reactivo Controller

If you’re using Madrix, a popular lighting software for creating dynamic LED effects, you can easily connect it to our Reactivo controller.
Here’s a simple step-by-step guide to get everything working smoothly.

Step 1: Purchase the Reactivo Controller #

Start by getting your Reactivo 2 controller from our LED Strip Studio shop. This device will handle the data transfer from Madrix software to your LED setup.

Step 2: Get Your Madrix License #

Next, make sure you have a Madrix software license.

Step 3: Create Your Patch #

In Madrix, you’ll need to define your LED matrix or fixture layout, called a patch. For example, if you’re using a 32×32 pixel LED screen, you’ll have a total of 1,024 pixels. This entire setup can be easily controlled by a single Reactivo controller.

Step 4: Open the Matrix Generator #

To create your patch, go to the Matrix Generator inside the software. Here, enter the width and height of your matrix (e.g., 32×32). Once done, your patch is ready.

Step 5: Open Device Manager #

Now it’s time to connect your device. Go to Preferences → Device Manager in Matrix. Since the Reactivo controller works as an Art-Net to SPI converter, you’ll be looking for the Art-Net tab.

Step 6: Add the Reactivo Device #

There are two ways to add your controller:

• Search automatically for all Art-Net devices on your network
• Add the IP address manually if you already know it

After scanning, you’ll see a list of all connected devices. Identify your Reactivo controller by its IP address (for example, ending with 186). You can remove any other devices and keep only your Reactivo listed.

Step 7: Enable Universes #

You’ll notice your Reactivo uses several Art-Net universes (for example, seven). Make sure to enable each group of universes by checking the corresponding box.

Step 8: Turn On DMX Universes #

Go to DMX Devices, where each universe is shown individually. Right-click each one and change its state from “Off” to “On”. This step ensures Matrix sends the signal correctly to your controller.

Step 9: Create an Effect #

Once the setup is done, go to the Effect Creation tab in Matrix. Choose any effect you like — for example, a Color Scroll — and apply it to your matrix.

Step 10: Enjoy Your Result #

That’s it! Your Matrix software is now connected to the Reactivo controller. You can start playing effects directly on your LED screen and enjoy smooth, real-time animations.
