Pixel Mode – Control individual pixels with DMX

Pixel mode is great way how to control pixels with your DMX signal source. If you need to control individual LEDs or pixel groups. Pixel mode is one of two modes that both SPI Matrix and LED Ethernet Controller 3 can work in while utilizing DMX to control the device.

What output can I use for Pixel mode? #

With DMX Pixel mode, you can emulate Analog like output on your SPI digital outputs. You thus control the first pixel on the first digital output. However, you can emulate this analog pixel on all 4 outputs.

For example – if you want to have 4 pixels, each on separate output, you will set the Number of pixels to 4 and LEDs per pixel to 1024. In this scenario, first 3 channels will control the first output, channels 4-6 will control second pixel on second output and so on.

Here you can set how many pixels you want to control. Each pixel takes 3 channels in case of RGB strip, and in case of RGBW 4 channels.

Pixel group – LEDs per pixel #

In the LEDs per pixel you can set how many LEDs will behave as one pixel. This way you can control multiple pixels, that will behave as one, with only 3(4) channels, depending on the type of strip that you are working with/set in the Web configuration.

Who might benefit from this feature? #

Anyone who want to use single device to emulate Analog strips on their Digital outputs. Great for rental purposes, as you have a single device that can do multiple tasks.
