Description
The Meanwell RSP-200-12 is the power supply we use more than any other. It delivers 200 W at 12 V, or 16.7 A of continuous current, from a sealed metal case with no fan inside. That combination — real power, zero noise and a failure rate we can count on one hand — is why it sits under most of our own pixel LED installations.
Why the RSP-200-12 is our default 12 V supply
We do not pick a power supply on price. We pick it on the number of service calls it does not generate. On both counts the RSP-200-12 has earned its place in our stock.
Completely silent, because there is no fan
The unit is cooled by free air convection. Nothing spins, so nothing hums, whines or clogs with dust. In a studio, a showroom, a museum or a hotel lobby that matters more than any spec on the label, because a fan is the one part of a power supply your client can hear.
More than 1000 RSP-200-12 sold, two with a problem
We have shipped over a thousand of these supplies. Two came back with a fault. That is our own field record, not a manufacturer claim, and it is the reason we keep reordering the same model instead of chasing a cheaper one.
Powering WS2815 pixel LED strip with the RSP-200-12
The RSP-200-12 is a natural match for WS2815, which runs on 12 V and therefore loses far less voltage along a run than a 5 V strip. One supply covers a serious length of tape with a single AC feed.
Sizing the supply against your run
Add up the maximum draw your strip manufacturer states per metre, multiply by your length, and keep roughly 20 % headroom. If the total goes past 16.7 A, split the run and add a second supply with power injection rather than pushing one unit to its limit.

Built to sit in a rack, 30 mm tall
At 30 mm tall the case fits a 1U slot, so a row of supplies takes one shelf instead of three. The universal 88–264 V AC input means the same unit works on tour anywhere in the world, and active PFC keeps the load kind to the circuit it shares.
When several supplies share one breaker
Every switch-mode supply draws a short current peak at switch-on. Stack enough of them on one circuit and the peaks add up until the breaker trips. Our AC Delay module staggers the start times so that never happens.
RSP-200-12 protection and warranty
Short circuit, overload, over voltage and over temperature protection are all built in, so a wiring mistake on site stops the supply rather than destroying it. The unit carries UL 62368-1, CE and RoHS approval and comes with Meanwell’s three-year warranty. Pair it with a LEC 3 or an SPI LED Controller running LED Strip Studio software, and ask our support team if you are unsure how much strip one supply will carry.
